Solar panels

Solar panels

De Kernen has installed solar panels on a total of 3,400 social rental homes in 35 villages in the municipality of Maasdriel, Zaltbommel, Neerijnen, West Maas and Waal, Druten and Wijchen. The corporation celebrated the festive finish of this' sustainability train 'on November 26, 2018 in Wamel together with tenants, residents' council, aldermen and other interested parties.

Green profits

About 75% of De Kernen's tenants experience the benefits of solar energy. This results in significant savings. In the wallet, it saves 3,400 tenants with solar panels jointly about 1 million euros per year on the electricity bill and it saves 3 million kg of CO2 emissions per year. Good for the local economy in the River area and the environment.

Support Residents Council

The Residents' Council of De Kernen has been involved in this ambitious project from the start. Together with the Residents' Council, it was decided to increase the rent by 1% one-off in 2014. In combination with investments from De Kernen, it was then possible to realize the project on this large scale. Representatives of the Residents' Council Mariet van den Broeck and Meindert Tegel were therefore the first to cross the finish line.
